this is the first part, or better post of a new series i just started.
i invited friends to send me book, film, and music recommendations. the idea is 5 books, films and music recommendations as they wish, no input requirements. just a list, just two, only films, books one thinks people have to read or books which are right now on the desk, what ever. i always discovered the best books, films, music via friends never via “suggestions from either itunes etc nor other websites.
you know how it is, someone has to be the one. so i go first on the dance floor, all eyes on me ….
It was very, very tempting to do a bit of showing off, you know just some business, history or science books which look good, or some classics which make me look very intellectual. But i resist.
The Journey to Tunisia, 1914: Paul Klee, August Macke, Louis Moilliet is a book i have since i am fifteen and i come back to it again and again, for visual inspiration. Caught inside: a Surfer’s Year on the California Coast, is probably not pulitzer style level, but it is well written and touches one special nerve of me. in his book, he lives the live i will live one day. yeah one day i am going to be one of those funny old ladies surfing nazare. The Empty Mirror: Experiences in a Japanese Zen Monastery a book about a journey to a zen temple is very special for me, i love how he writes about his doubts and his fun.
You Are Now Less Dumb: How to Conquer Mob Mentality, How to Buy Happiness, and All the Other Ways to Outsmart Yourself– god, it is scary to discover that there is not such a thing like the truth, but than it gives a whole lot of new possibilities.
The Filter Bubble: What The Internet Is Hiding From You – must read!
